Project Leader Biographies: Madrona Center for Sustainable Living

Lane Parks, co-director of the Madrona Center, studied art history, paper making, and architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design, Colby College, and Western Washington University. He has been making paper and prints for more than 30 years, and teaching at institutions such as the Seattle Art Museum and Western Washington University.

Susan Ferrel, co-director of the Madrona Center, is a gardener, painter and permaculturist who has spent the last 20 years designing and nurturing a sustainable homestead on Guemes Island with some help from her husband, Lane Parks. She received a degree in art from the University of Washington.
