Project Leader Biographies: Helping Hands Noramise
Helping Hands Noramise project leader, Rosedanie Cadet, is a woman of Haitian birth who was raised and educated in the United States and currently lives on Orcas Island in Washington State. Rosedanie was born in Limbe', Haiti, but she had not been back until December 2009, when she visited to reconnect with members of her extended family. She was dismayed by the poverty and learned helplessness she saw in her hometown and was determined to return and undertake projects to help break this cycle. Rosedanie founded Helping Hands Noramise (HHN, named for her grandmother) in January 2010. Since then, she and other members of Team Noramise have traveled to Limbe' several times to initiate new projects and support existing ones. HHN now has a center in Limbe' that houses the Tambour Creole Artitsts' Cooperative and is a gathering place for change. They helped form an HHN Haiti Committee-- composed of local teachers, lawyers, farmers and concerned citizens--to manage projects when Rosedanie is away.
