Project Leader Biographies: Community Car Share

Lorraine Wilde helped found Community Car Share in August 2006 and has acted as General Manager and Co-Chair since that time.  Lorraine was vital in getting the car share set up as a legal entity, securing appropriate insurance, developing essential documents, and coordinating with the community to acquire vehicles, parking spaces, press coverage, and new business and individual members.  Lorraine has also coordinated volunteers and interns for the car share, spending many hours participating in local community events.  Lorraine's most notable contributions include her success at acquiring a $10,000 grant to purchase a hybrid vehicle, and donating all of her time as an unpaid volunteer since the car share's inception.

Before her work for the Community Car Share Project, Lorraine worked as an environmental consultant for 6 years, contributing to Superfund (pollution) clean-up and wetlands management, followed by 4 years of scientific laboratory and chemical waste management for Western Washington University's Chemistry Department.  Lorraine currently teaches ecology and toxicology classes part-time for Western Washington University's Huxley College of the Environment.

Community Car Share also has an active and involved Board of Directors. More details can be found at our web site.
