Center for Self-Reliance
The Center For Local Self Reliance will rehabilitate and restore an underutilized public facility to its former status as a Caretakers' House and Gardens. In this setting we will provide educational resources and demonstration gardens for local residents to learn gardening, food preservation, and self reliance skills.
Ultimately, the house will accommodate a learning center, demonstration kitchen, office and storage facilities. The gardens will demonstrate a variety of gardening methods focusing on self-reliant food gardening.
Currently we have just completed the master site plan phase which has received city approval. The next phase involves rehabilitation of the Caretakers House and initial installations of demonstration gardens.
