Stefanie Denz
Stefanie Denz lives on Saltspring Island in British Columbia
with her husband and three children. They have a burgeoning
household with garden and pets that, after being inspired by
its far-reaching influence, Stefanie steals away from to be
in her studio.
Stefanies work has an astounding range of subjects and
materials, which she integrates in unique and surprising ways.
Her figurative work is dramatic suggesting entire narratives
at a glance. Scenes include ferries, friends, movie stills,
and/or old photos, offering glimpses of ongoing undercurrents.
Stefanies children can be seen playing, howling, etc.,
in her insightful, powerful images of childhood. In her nonfigurative
paintings, architectural structures invite us into enigmatic
landscapes.
Stefanie has had many awards and exhibits over the past two
decades and has been teaching drawing and painting for the last
five. Stefanie has excellent composition, use of colour and
spatial sensibilities. Her work shows depth with humour, mystery,
eroticism and deeply examined humanity
