Projects: Green Building Program

Green Building Rating System for Low-Income Housing Developments in Mexico
Currently in early-stage planning, this project will coordinate in partnership with the World Green Building Council and the Mexico Green Building Council the efforts of an array of agencies and organizations in the Mexico and US in order to develop a rating system for: 1) accelerating the development and adoption of green design and construction practices in the low-income residential sector in Mexico; and 2) creating a mechanism for implementing a system of energy- efficient mortgages.

The Lopez Community Land Trust
The Lopez Community Land Trust, Lopez Island, Washington State, USA
A 14 unit affordable sustainable homes initiative aiming for zero net energy, small footprints, and cutting edge localized approaches considering water, indoor air quality, permaculture, transportation, and other related measures.  Mithun Architects of Seattle have been retained as the lead design team.  A wind metering tower is currently in place on the site monitoring the wind capacity.

A W.I.S.H. International Headquarters Building
Construction is underway for A W.I.S.H.’s new headquarter facility on Lopez Island, Washington State, USA.  The building will feature cutting-edge green building technologies and will be profiled upon completion.

The Woodson Place
The A W.I.S.H. Green Building Program is the non-profit partner of The Woodson Place, a pioneering conservation development near Dallas, Texas, USA. The Woodson Place Idea Home received the top 5 star rating from the Austin Green Building Program.  A W.I.S.H. will partner with the developers to create a demonstration program for the Idea Home that provides builders, local leaders, and consumers with information and benefits of green building and conservation design in land planning.

Green Building Council Formation in Latin America
A W.I.S.H. is partnering with the World Green Building Council to support the formation of Green Building Councils in the nations throughout Latin America.

Veterans Transitional Housing Project--Clark County, Washington, USA
A W.I.S.H is partnering with and consulting to a 24 unit green transitional affordable housing project administered by Clark County, Washington, for veterans in Vancouver.

Community Center Redevelopment—Vergiate, Italy
A W.I.S.H partnered with Bamboo Village Hawaii (an A W.I.S.H. affiliate project) to lead a re-build of a community center in Northern Italy that brought people in from all over the world to participate and learn about the cutting edge techniques for bamboo construction.
